Terms of Use / CarO

These terms of use apply to the CarO – Car Maintenance Log app (the "Application") for mobile devices and the website at caromaintenanceapp.com (the "Website"). Both were created by Muneeb Rana (Xtra App Studios) (the "Service Provider") as a Freemium service. By downloading, accessing or using the Application or the Website, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Application or the Website.

The service

CarO is a car maintenance log. You can record services, fuel, expenses, income, trips and odometer readings, set reminders, see reports for any date range, and calculate MPG from fill-ups. Fuel can be logged in litres or gallons and kilometres or miles, including electricity for electric cars.

Your logs are stored in the cloud with your CarO account. You can export them as CSV.

The Application does not connect to your car, read OBD data, or track trips automatically by GPS. Guides, calculators and templates on the Website are general information. They are not a substitute for your owner's manual, a qualified mechanic, or tax, legal or financial advice. See the disclaimer.

Accounts and drivers

You need an account to use the Application. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details private and for the activity under your account.

Premium lets an owner add more than one car and more than one driver. Each driver uses a separate CarO account. The owner can see the logs those drivers add, including fuel, services, expenses, trips and odometer readings. If you use CarO as a driver, you understand that the owner of those cars can see what you log.

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter. CarO does not check odometer readings, receipts, fuel economy or tax claims.

Acceptable use

You may use the Application and the Website for personal use or for your own household or business vehicles. You agree not to:

break or probe the security of the Application, the Website or another user's account
upload unlawful, harmful or misleading content
copy the Website's articles, tools or design for a competing product
use the service in a way that interferes with other users
misrepresent CarO's records as an official inspection, warranty or tax filing

Free service, ads and purchases

The Application is free to download and shows third-party ads. Optional in-app purchases, including subscriptions, are offered inside the Application. The price is shown by Apple or Google before you confirm.

Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, not by the Service Provider. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid the next charge. Refunds follow the store's refund policy. The Service Provider cannot issue store refunds.

Premium features, such as removing ads, advanced analytics, multiple cars and multiple drivers, are available only while the purchase is active. If a subscription ends, the Application returns to the free feature set. Logs already stored in your account stay in the cloud.

Your content

You keep ownership of the logs, notes and other content you enter. You give the Service Provider permission to host, back up, sync and display that content so the service can work, including showing a driver's logs to the owner of the cars they are assigned to, and producing reports and CSV exports you request.

You can export a CSV copy of your logs from the Application. To ask for deletion of personal data you have provided, contact muneebrana@xtraappstudios.com, as described in the privacy policy.

Intellectual property

The Application, the Website, the CarO name, the logo, and the text, tools and layout of the Website belong to the Service Provider or its licensors. These terms do not give you ownership of any of that. Store badges and third-party names belong to their owners.

You may download the free templates on the Website for your own records. The Google Sheets "make a copy" links create a copy in your own Google account.

Privacy

The privacy policy describes what the Application and the Website collect and how it is used. The App Store privacy label for CarO matches that policy. By using the Application, you consent to that processing.

Disclaimers

The Application and the Website are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE". To the extent permitted by law, the Service Provider disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Reminders can be missed if a date, mileage or interval is entered incorrectly, if notifications are turned off, or if a device is offline. Reports, MPG and cost figures are calculated from what you log. They are estimates, not a guarantee of fuel economy, repair cost, resale value or a tax result. Maintenance intervals vary by vehicle. Follow your owner's manual and a qualified mechanic.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the Service Provider is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, lost data, missed maintenance, a failed inspection, or a tax decision, arising from use of the Application or the Website.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for fraud, or rights you have as a consumer under the laws of your country.

Ending use

You can stop using the Application at any time and uninstall it. The Service Provider may suspend or stop the service, or close an account that breaks these terms. Sections that should survive, including disclaimers, liability limits and ownership of content, continue to apply.

Changes

The Service Provider may update these terms. The new terms will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after the change is agreement to the updated terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Application and the Website.
